Job Summary
Develop statistical and computational methods for analyzing spatial omics data and work with interdisciplinary collaborators to apply these methods to real biological data. Contribute to the supervision and mentoring of PhD and Honours students, while preparing high-quality publications and presenting findings at national and international conferences. Support open-source software development and documentation to facilitate the uptake of new analytical tools. This role is part of an ARC-funded Discovery Project within the Sydney Precision Data Science Centre, jointly supervised by A/Prof Ellis Patrick and Dr Shila Ghazanfar.
Required Qualifications
- a PhD in statistics, biostatistics, data science, computer science, bioinformatics or a closely related discipline
- strong programming skills in R or Python
- experience developing or applying methods to complex or large-scale datasets
- ability to work both independently and collaboratively within an interdisciplinary research team
- strong written and verbal communication skills
- experience analysing spatial omics data
- familiarity with spatial data analysis or statistical modelling
Desired Qualifications
- experience with research software development (e.g. R packages, reproducible workflows)
