Job Summary
Conduct climate and air pollution research within UKRI-funded hubs using street-scale process-based modelling and statistical analysis. Perform simulations of outdoor air quality within an exposure and health modelling framework using the ADMS-Urban model, developing emissions scenarios based on future pathways and sector-based interventions. Examine heat and related climate extremes through analysis of regional long-term weather and climate model projections. Co-develop an indoor heat-health warning system for various settings and co-produce indicators to measure health co-benefits of net zero interventions. This role supports interdisciplinary work across natural, built, and health sciences environments.
Required Qualifications
- experience with the ADMS-Urban model
- experience with street-scale process-based modelling
- experience with statistical analysis methods applicable to large climate datasets
- knowledge of the UK NAEI emissions inventory
- knowledge of regional action plans
- experience with regional long-term weather and climate model projections datasets (e.g. UKCP18, EURO-CORDEX)
- ability to co-develop an indoor heat-health warning system
- ability to co-produce a set of indicators and metrics to measure impacts and quantify health co-benefits of net zero interventions
- exposure of interdisciplinary working across natural and built environments and in health sciences
