Job Summary

Postdoctoral Fellow role at the MacDiarmid Institute for a 24-month fixed-term, full-time contract. Under the supervision of a MacDiarmid Institute Investigator, you will build a research project aligned with the Institute’s Research Plan and one or more priority programmes, ensuring contributions to strategic Institute projects. You will work in an organised and structured manner without supervision. The position requires a PhD completed within the last two years, a strong research track record in superconductivity or quantum spintronics, experience with micro- and nanofabrication, cryogenic measurement techniques, and a demonstrated ability to publish scientific articles. Applicants must be supervised by a MacDiarmid Institute team including at least one supervising Investigator who is a current PI or AI at a partner organisation. Required Qualifications

  • PhD in a relevant subject area, completed within the previous two years (as calculated as of 27 February 2026)
  • Proven research track record
  • Experience in micro- and/or nanofabrication of electronic or spintronic devices, including lithography and patterning techniques
  • Experience in low-temperature electronic transport measurements and cryogenic experimental techniques
  • Background in experimental research on superconductivity or quantum spintronics
  • Demonstrated experience in writing scientific articles
  • Proven track record of working collaboratively
  • Ability to work in an organised and structured manner without close supervision
