Job Summary
Lead a translational research project investigating the impact of microplastics on the onset and progression of inflammatory bowel disease, employing primary cell culture systems, human biospecimens, and murine disease models; responsibilities include independent project design, data generation/analysis/interpretation, manuscript preparation, and mentoring junior lab members. Ideal candidates have a PhD or MD/PhD, strong collaborative and communication skills, and experience in molecular biology techniques and murine models; visa status considerations (J-1/J-2/F1+OPT) are noted. Primary PI: Christine McDonald; lab focuses on IBD, innate immunity, environmental triggers of autoinflammatory disease. Location: Cleveland Clinic Main Campus, Cleveland, Ohio, USA. This is a non-remote, full-time research-training position intended to be completed within 5 years, with NIH NRSA salary scale based on postdoctoral experience.
Required Qualifications
- PhD or MD/PhD required
- MD with relevant laboratory experience may substitute for PhD
- English proficiency required
- Previous experience in a research or academic setting
- Scientific writing experience
- Willingness to learn new technical approaches
- Ability to design independent projects and lead research efforts
- Mentoring/training of junior lab members
