Job Summary
Postdoctoral Appointee to characterize high pressure melts using coherence and nano-beams at HPCAT. Drive development and application of advanced x-ray techniques (BCDI, XPCS, PCI, nano-beam, time-resolved diffraction microscopy) across solid–melt transitions and melt–liquid structure, leveraging APS-Upgraded high-brightness/high-coherence beamlines and HPCAT platforms. Collaborate with staff and partner institutions (e.g., LANL, LLNL, SNL) to expand capabilities to materials such as high-entropy alloys and superconductors, and explore AI/ML integrations with data processing and software workflows. Two-year term with potential extension/conversion to full-time, with opportunities for career growth and long-term involvement in HPCAT/APS. Include CV and summary of relevant ideas in application; review begins June 8 and continues until filled.
Required Qualifications
- Recent or soon-to-be completed PhD (0-5 years) in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, Geosciences or Engineering
- Demonstrated experience with synchrotron x-ray techniques such as Bragg Coherent Diffraction Imaging (BCDI), X-ray Photon Correlation Spectroscopy (XPCS), Phase-Contrast Imaging (PCI), nano-beam and time resolved diffraction microscopy
- Ability to implement AI/ML applications and contribute to data processing and software development
