Job Summary
Post Sentence Support Worker at MKO provides trauma-informed support, advocacy, and guidance to individuals at the post-sentence stage to help them successfully complete their sentence terms and follow through with recommendations within Healing Circles and/or Gladue Reports. The role includes assisting with reentry into the community, making referrals to and advocating with service providers (e.g., mental health and addictions), liaising with internal and external stakeholders, maintaining compliance with agreement guidelines and reporting, contributing to staff meetings, identifying partnership and training opportunities, managing workload and records, and pursuing professional development. Requires strong organizational, time-management, and data-management skills, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and a valid driver’s license with ability to travel as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Post-Secondary education in Social Sciences or equivalent combination of education and experience in Justice or Correctional Services
- Knowledge of the Criminal Justice System and Correctional Services considerations relevant to working with individuals in conflict with the Justice System
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Extensive experience in case planning and supporting individuals, families and/or communities
- Experience in preparing case management reports and activity plans
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal, networking, and social skills
- Exceptional team player with a strong ability to contribute positively to a team environment
- Strong computer literacy with Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Ability to be flexible with time and travel as required
- Possess valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle
- Must be able to obtain and provide satisfactory Criminal Record Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check
- Ability to comply with MKO policies and procedures
