Job Summary
Advise students on course offerings, prerequisites, and financial aid programs while guiding them through registration and assessment processes. Deliver educational, vocational, and personal counseling to low-income, first-generation attendees, assisting with paperwork and identifying strengths and limitations. Conduct targeted outreach, organize workshops, and maintain community partnerships to support student retention and program goals. Requires a fluctuating schedule including nights and weekends; grant-funded employment contingent on funding status.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- One year of related experience
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Professional or similar application
- Attention to detail while maintaining effective time and task management
- Fact-finding, analysis, and problem solving
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing on a regular basis with internal and external customers, build relationships, manage customer expectations, and take responsibility for a high level of service
- Demonstrate critical thinking and interpersonal skills
- Ability to interact in a positive manner with diverse populations and varying education levels of students, faculty, staff, and the public
- Ability to organize and prioritize multiple competing priorities to maximize personal and team effectiveness
- Ability to research information for problem solving
- Regular physical attendance
- Valid Florida driver's license
- Must be able to work a fluctuating work schedule, including nights and weekends
- Must be able to operate a motor vehicle
- Must be able to perform daily physical demands including reaching and grasping objects, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, crawling, standing for extended periods, using a video display terminal, using manual dexterity and fine motor skills, communicating information orally and in writing, receiving and understanding information through oral and written communication, proofreading and checking documents for accuracy
