Job Summary
Receive, sort, process, and distribute incoming and outgoing U.S. Mail, packages, freight shipments, and special deliveries for the university campus. Inspect, log, track, and verify shipments against packing slips and purchase orders while identifying discrepancies, shortages, or damaged goods. Coordinate campus mail and package delivery services by notifying recipients of arrivals and supporting timely pickup. Operate postage meters, package-tracking systems, hand trucks, pallet jacks, and a university vehicle to transport mail between campus locations and local facilities. Maintain accurate records of distribution, deliveries, and postage expenditures while keeping the mailroom and receiving areas clean and organized. Follow USPS regulations, carrier requirements, and safety standards in a fast-paced environment requiring frequent lifting up to 50 pounds.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid Georgia driver's license with an acceptable driving record
- Knowledge of mail distribution, shipping, receiving, or package-handling procedures
- Ability to use computers, Microsoft Office applications, email, and package-tracking systems
- Strong organizational, time-management, and recordkeeping skills
- Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced service environment
- Lift, carry, and move packages weighing up to 50 pounds
- Occasionally move materials weighing more than 50 pounds using appropriate equipment or with assistance
- Push, pull, or maneuver carts, hand trucks, pallet jacks, and other mailroom or warehouse equipment
- Operate a university vehicle, as required, to transport mail, packages, and deliveries between campus locations and local postal or shipping facilities
