Job Summary
Conduct clinical placements in maternity, neonatal, and women's health units as a postgraduate midwifery student under the supervision of Clinical Support Midwives. Rotate through diverse practice areas to complete graduate diploma requirements, with employed positions rostered minimum three days weekly or supernumerary placements maximizing clinical experience. Provide care for women seeking termination of pregnancy as part of the role. This program, a partnership between La Trobe University and the Royal Women's Hospital, offers mentoring and career development for registered nurses with 12 months of acute care experience seeking qualification as a midwife.
Required Qualifications
- AHPRA Registration as a Nurse
- minimum of twelve (twelve) months of acute post registration experience as a registered nurse (Division 1)
- A current Working with Children Check
- Have previously completed a Graduate Nurse Program (or similar) in an acute care setting
- Agree, as part of your role as a student midwife, to care for women seeking a termination of pregnancy
- All appointments are made subject to a satisfactory National Police Check
- three COVID-19 vaccinations
- a range of additional vaccinations including influenza, as required by the Department of Health
