Post-Doctoral Researcher in Computational Geomechanics of Gas Migration in Clays
On-site · Delft, South Holland, The Netherlands
Job Summary
Post-Doctoral Researcher to develop an efficient stochastic hydro-mechanical modelling framework for gas migration in clays, bridging detailed process understanding and large-scale applications. Responsibilities include developing physics-based upscaled models informed by high-fidelity simulations, exploring deep learning techniques to generate realistic heterogeneous material representations for stochastic hydro-mechanical simulations, extending modelling approaches to include hydro-mechanical coupling in heterogeneous materials, and incorporating uncertainty quantification to assess the impact of spatial variability and parameter uncertainty. The position is part of Work Package HERMES of EURAD-2 at TU Delft (Delft University of Technology) within the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Geosciences, with a 1-year contract and potential extension, 36-40 hours per week, and relocation support.
Required Qualifications
- PhD in computational (geo)mechanics, or a related discipline
- Interest in uncertainty quantification
- Self-motivated, curiosity-driven, and open to communicating and cooperating with others
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
