Job Summary

Design and conduct observational, experimental, and translational research on diabetes, cardiometabolic conditions, and cognitive aging using population-based cohorts, electronic health records, and large survey datasets. Develop statistical analysis plans, harmonize data across studies, and apply epidemiologic, statistical, and computational methods including AI/ML and deep learning to longitudinal and high-dimensional data. Write grants, design studies, prepare and publish scientific manuscripts, and mentor junior researchers under the direction of a Principal Investigator. Collaborate with national and international teams on clinical trials and implementation science projects while receiving advanced training to enhance research independence.

Required Qualifications

  • A doctoral degree or equivalent (Ph.D., M.D., ScD., D.V.M., DDS etc) in an appropriate field
  • Excellent scientific writing ability
  • Strong oral communication skills
  • The ability to work effectively and collegially with colleagues
  • Residency in the state of GA
  • Must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs

Desired Qualifications

  • An MD and/or PhD in epidemiology, biostatistics, nutrition, behavioral sciences, demography, computer science, data science, biomedical informatics, medicine, or a related field
  • Strong scientific writing skills
  • Quantitative skills
  • Statistical skills
  • Programming skills
  • Experience analyzing complex longitudinal data, particularly electronic health records, cohort studies, and large survey datasets
  • Experience developing peer-reviewed manuscripts
  • Substantive knowledge of diabetes, obesity, CVD, cognitive aging, brain health, or social determinants of health
  • Experience or strong interest in AI/ML, digital health technologies, wearable devices, continuous glucose monitoring (CGM), or other computational methods
  • Expertise in—or enthusiasm for learning and engaging in—clinical trials, pragmatic trials, and implementation science
  • The ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Enthusiasm for interdisciplinary research spanning epidemiology, medicine, neuroscience, computer science, engineering, and data science
