Job Summary
Design and conduct research on seizure termination mechanisms within the Laboratory of Neuromodulation for Epilepsy, receiving advanced training from a designated Principal Investigator. Develop new experimental ideas, evaluate experiments, and prepare scientific manuscripts under supervision. Operate specific equipment and teach techniques to research staff, potentially supervising junior members. This one-year temporary appointment offers mentorship to enhance professional skills and research independence, with renewal expected if progress is satisfactory. The position involves working with biohazardous materials in a typical laboratory environment, requiring the ability to bend, kneel, and squat. Candidates must possess a doctoral degree in neuroscience or a related field, with familiarity with electrophysiological recordings or cognitive assessments on rodents or non-human primates preferred.
Required Qualifications
- PhD in Neuroscience or another closely related field awarded within the past three years
- Excellent scientific writing ability
- Strong oral communication skills
- Ability to work effectively and collegially with colleagues
- Laboratory research experience
- Familiarity with electrophysiological recordings or cognitive assessments on rodents or non-human primates
- Ability to bend, kneel, and/or squat
- Passion for research
