Job Summary

Conduct research on medium-voltage silicon carbide module characterizations, high power grid-tied converters development, and megawatt solid state transformer projects. Assist in day-to-day lab operations and help faculty supervise graduate students while maintaining regular, reliable attendance. Build collegial working relationships within the Electrical Engineering department. This renewable annual position offers commensurate salary based on education and experience, with benefits including tuition waivers and university contributions to health and retirement.

Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering or closely related field from an accredited institution of higher education, conferred by the start of employment
  • Experience in design, development and control of power electronic converters
  • Experience in PCB design, gate driver design, and thermal management solutions
  • Experience in one of the following 3 areas: Experienced in power electronic circuit theory, such as dc/dc converters, inverters, and multi-level converters
  • Experience with PWM control methods
  • Experience with thermal management techniques in power electronic modules and assemblies
  • Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance
  • Ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others
  • Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with medium-power or medium-voltage power converters
  • Proficiency in the programming of DSP or CPLD or FPGA
  • Experience with wide bandgap, e.g., SiC or GaN, devices/modules packaging
  • Experience in one of the following 3 areas: Experience in EMI filters design, or Experience in printed circuit board layout, or Experience in the design of medium- or high-frequency transformers
