Job Summary
Positive Support Specialists work within Intensive Community Residential Services (ICRS) programs, providing support to individuals with intensive medical, behavioral, and mental health needs. Responsibilities include assisting individuals with essential life skills like meal preparation and personal hygiene, advocating for their rights and medical care, and managing crisis situations safely. Candidates should have strong interpersonal skills and be physically capable of supporting those in need. A high school diploma is required, with preference for those holding a degree relevant to the role and possessing 1-2 years of experience with complex needs.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1-2 years of experience working with people with complex needs
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to stand, squat, bend or walk for long periods
- Capacity to lift 50 lbs.
- Driver's license and cleared by BCA background study
- Motor Vehicle Check (MVR)
Desired Qualifications
- Degree in a relevant field (preferred)
- 3-5 years of experience with individuals with complex needs (preferred)
Additional Requirements
- Must be cleared by a Bureau of Criminal Affairs (BCA) background study
- Requires a driver's license
