Job Summary
Positive Support Specialists (PSS) work in Intensive Community Residential Services (ICRS) programs to support individuals with intensive medical, behavioral and mental health needs. Responsibilities include helping individuals become more independent with essential life skills (e.g., meal preparation, personal hygiene, navigating the community), advocating for their rights and medical care, completing shift documentation, managing crises safely (training in Positive Behavioral Supports and manual restraints per 245D), and engaging in trauma-informed care. The role involves working in home and community settings, participating in meaningful events and activities, and providing ongoing support as part of a multidisciplinary team. Must be able to stand, squat, bend, or walk for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs. Requires a Bureau of Criminal Affairs background clearence and a driver's license with Motor Vehicle Check. Minimum education is a high school diploma with preference for a relevant degree; 1–2 years (with preference for 3–5 years) experience working with people with complex needs.
