Job Summary
Portuguese-European Distance Learning Associate Language Instructor provides virtual instruction across Listening, Reading, and Speaking to improve foreign language proficiency (ILR 0+ to 3) and conducts region/culture-focused instruction using blended-learning approaches. Responsibilities include developing lesson plans, assessing and adapting instruction to student levels, reviewing assignments, maintaining a professional virtual classroom, and collaborating with Managers/Coordinators on curriculum gaps. Requires US Citizenship, native/near-native Portuguese, experience delivering virtual instruction, and English-language proficiency qualifications. Desired qualifications include experience using online platforms (CL-150, Adobe Connect, Canvas, Moodle), and a Bachelor's Degree; remote work is indicated with a primary location at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA (US).
Required Qualifications
- US Citizenship
- Native or near-native fluency in Portuguese (ILR 3/3/3 or equivalent)
- Experience delivering virtual language instruction
- Ability to create blended learning materials
- Access to required hardware and reliable internet
- Successful completion of English language proficiency requirements (TOEFL/OPI/ECL/ACTFL) as specified
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
- Experience using online platforms (e.g., CL-150, Adobe Connect, Canvas, Moodle)
- ILR 2+ or ACTFL Advanced-High proficiency in target language
- DLPT/OPI/ACTFL-based proficiency assessments
- DLIFLC certification or validation of proficiency (OPI)

- Experience instructing adults in virtual/blended learning environments
