Job Summary
Tapers are responsible for finishing walls, ceilings, and trim using hand and mechanical tools, ensuring work meets required finishing standards. Key tasks include applying drywall tape, finishing inside and outside corners, organizing materials, and maintaining a safe work environment. Critical skills include reading drawings, mixing joint compounds, and sanding. A Taper works closely with a foreman, managing production schedules while adhering to specified finish levels and safety standards. Strong physical capabilities are necessary for lifting and maneuvering materials.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to climb and maintain balance on scaffolds and ladders
- Ability to reach for, handle, and manipulate objects and materials
- Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 100 pounds
- Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl
- Ability to see well (either naturally or with correction)
