Job Summary
Portfolio Management Advisor located in Houston, TX, responsible for managing the retail power book across deregulated markets (CAISO, PJM, NEPOOL, NYISO, MISO), including P&L ownership, hedge strategy recommendations, and forward curve calibration. Responsibilities include validating load forecasts, producing NOP/MTM reports, aggregating revenue and cost data, developing and calibrating forward price curves for energy-related components, managing price/volume risk, coordinating with Sales, Trading, Risk, Operations, and other teams, and delivering market fundamentals presentations. Requires experience in retail power market dynamics, expertise in hedging strategies, and proficiency with Excel and data tools (Python, SQL, Power BI). Hybrid in-office/remote work arrangement in the Houston area with formal reporting to the Director of Portfolio Management.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, Accounting, Mathematics, or Computer Science (or equivalent combination of 10 years of experience and education)
- Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in the retail power industry
- Deep experience in retail power portfolio management, with expertise in PJM and MISO markets
- Knowledge of energy market fundamentals, pricing methodologies, and hedging strategies
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to senior leadership and cross-functional teams
- Proficiency in MS Excel and data tools (Python, SQL, Power BI)
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to plan and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Clear communicator with strong written and verbal communication skills
