Job Summary
Maintain cleanliness and minor repairs in a residential shelter, including floor care, cafeteria and kitchen cleaning, trash removal, window wiping, and stairway maintenance. Execute exterior snow and ice removal, grounds upkeep, landscaping, rodent removal, and insect extermination. Conduct periodic inspections of the building, dorms, offices, fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, and sprinkler systems. Launder bed linens, towels, and washable facility items. Assist with moving supplies and furniture, interior decorating, and boiler/water heater inspections. Drive agency vehicles and maintain a clean uniform. Complete other tasks as directed by management and attend staff meetings and trainings. Weekend and evening hours required.
Required Qualifications
- At least two years of building maintenance experience in a large residential/institutional setting working with special needs population
- Must possess good interpersonal skills
- A work schedule that includes some weekend and evening hours
Desired Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- NYS Driver's License
Additional Requirements
- Must maintain CPR/First Aid Certification
- Must wear SUS maintenance uniform and keep it clean and presentable at the start of each shift
