Job Summary
Assist with efficient loading and discharge of cargo from vessels at the Hull Container Terminal while operating plant and equipment such as tugs, reach stackers, and cranes after completing pre-start checks. Carry out yard duties including cargo storage, equipment cleaning, and site maintenance in accordance with risk assessments and safe systems of work. Participate in toolbox talks and training to maintain efficiency and meet operational targets for safe, timely shift handovers. This role requires full UK driving licence, own transport, and flexibility to navigate the Humber region on a 5-on, 3-off schedule alternating between two and three flexible shifts.
Required Qualifications
- Full UK driving (car) licence
- Own transport
- Ability to navigate IT equipment e.g. smart phone, handheld terminals etc
- Ability to operate Plant and Equipment (including Pre-Start checks), during vessel loading /discharging and cargo storage operations
- Ability to carry out the job role in accordance with Risk Assessments, Safe Systems of Work and to actively participate in Toolbox Talks
- Ability to ensure targets are met ensuring that targets and operations remain continuous around safe and timely handover of shifts
- Ability to clean equipment and site as required
- Ability to assist in various other port duties
- Ability to be highly flexible
- Ability to move around the Humber and within the terminals when needed
- Ability to work on a 5 on, 3 off schedules
- Ability to work alternating between 2 days and 3 flexible shifts
- Ability to work days or nights depending on business needs
- Ability to undergo random screening for substance abuse
- Ability to pass a medical before starting the position
- Ability to consent to pre-employment screening to Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS)
