Job Summary
Evaluate and coordinate shipyard repairs while overseeing USCG/ABS inspection evaluations for re-certification. Conduct USCG inspections for the SIP Program and resolve problems with barge equipment by surveying major planned and unplanned repairs. Prepare data sheets, SIP papers, and work orders while monitoring contractor work and verifying completed tasks. Communicate daily with vessel crews, vendors, and regulatory agencies to handle special duty assignments and manage day-to-day maintenance of barges. Requires valid driver's license, ability to lift 50 pounds, and climb aboard vessels. Typical hours are 7:00am to 5:00pm Monday through Friday with on-call rotation and some out-of-town travel.
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge of Refrigeration systems
- Expert knowledge of barge repair, remedial and scheduled shipyard
- Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds
- Ability to climb aboard and move around vessels
- Ability to climb 90-degree vertical ladders
- Ability to bend, crawl and maneuver around tight spaces
- Ability to use and operate field truck
- Ability to use and operate field tools
- Ability to use and operate SCBA
- Ability to use and operate ultrasonic tester
- Ability to use and operate safety equipment
- Ability to use and operate 10-key
- Valid driver's license
- Good driving record
- Knowledge and use of computer software
- Highschool Diploma or GED
- 2+ years in the barge or tankering industry
