Job Summary
Port Director responsible for the Port Executive Director role within the City and County of San Francisco Port Commission. Lead overall management, development, and long-term success of the Port as an enterprise agency, overseeing administrative, financial, governance, regulatory, engineering, development, leasing, and operations activities. Must hold a baccalaureate degree with a master’s degree preferred and bring substantial senior executive leadership experience (seven+ years) in complex organizations, with a track record in large-scale development, cross-agency orchestration, and public-private partnerships. Key responsibilities include strategic planning, organizational leadership, stakeholder engagement, financial stewardship, equity integration, and delivering megaprojects (e.g., Seawall Program) while maintaining effective communication with a diverse set of stakeholders. The role requires visionary leadership, discipline in planning and delivery, and the ability to represent the Port at local, national, and international levels. The position is hybrid in San Francisco, with an exempt-from-civil-service status and reporting to the Port Commission, serving at the pleasure of the Port Commission.
