Job Summary
Lead and supervise dry bulk port operations across global load/discharge ports, optimizing cargo stowage, reviewing stability calculations, and ensuring compliance with IMSBC/BLU codes. Key duties include coordinating with stevedores and terminals, monitoring draft surveys and loading rates, managing cargo claims and loss prevention, and liaising with chartering/operations to optimize laytime and reduce demurrage while enforcing safety and environmental standards. Desired expertise includes master mariner qualifications, bulk carrier familiarity, draft surveying, and Charter Party/Laytime knowledge; strong on-site/shore-based supervision capabilities are essential.
Required Qualifications
- Master Mariner (Class 1 CoC) license advantageous
- 2–4 years of shore-based experience as an Operations Superintendent, Port Captain, or Cargo Surveyor within the dry bulk sector
- Comprehensive understanding of bulk carrier stability, draft surveying, and handling characteristics of diverse bulk commodities
- Familiarity with standard dry bulk Charter Party terms (e.g., NYPE, Amwelsh) and laytime concepts
