Polysomnographic Technician - Trainee

Job Summary

Gather and analyze patient history, then prepare and calibrate polysomnographic testing equipment. Perform bio-calibrations and impedance testing to ensure record integrity while providing equipment hook-up and maintaining continuous monitoring of patients. Assist in record scoring and reporting, implement interventions to eliminate artifacts, and provide treatment modalities per department protocol. Document observations accurately and execute post-test procedures including cleaning and sterilization. Operate under general supervision of the Clinical Team Lead or Medical Director. Requires BLS certification, a high school diploma, and ability to lift 40-50 lbs. Night shift with variable hours, weekends, and holidays; travel between sleep department locations is required.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Must be able to provide safe, compassionate, and competent patient care
  • Demonstrates computer skills appropriate for the position
  • BLS - Basic Life Support
  • AHA - American Heart Association within 90 Days
  • RPSGT - Registered Polysomnographer Technologist - Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists within 3 Years
  • DL - Driver's License_PA - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire
  • Must be able to lift 40-50 lbs
  • Must be able to push/pull patients on bed, stretcher (requires 29 lbs. push force)
  • Must be able to perform lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of the patient's weight
  • Must be able to walk 8-10 miles per shift
  • Must be able to kneel, bending, squatting and performing CPR
  • Must be available for Night Shift
  • Must be available for variable hrs/shifts including weekends/holidays
  • Must be available for Travel between sleep department locations

Desired Qualifications

  • Technical School Diploma
  • 1 year Relative work in the health care industry
  • Knowledge/Experience with EPIC system
  • Demonstrates knowledge of procedures and equipment routinely used in sleep testing
  • Demonstrates knowledge of and ability to perform sleep equipment hook-up and monitoring
