Job Summary
Conduct overnight polysomnograms (PSG) and therapeutic polygraphic procedures, monitoring multi-physiologic parameters and collecting vital signs to ensure proper interpretation by physicians. Perform operational checks, calibrations, and routine maintenance on sleep study equipment, identifying and correcting artifacts while scoring sleep stages and clinical events per American Academy of Sleep Medicine standards. Implement patient safety interventions such as positive airway pressure administration and basic life support as needed, and communicate with ordering physicians to clarify orders. Clean all equipment to maintain infection control protocols and assist with clinic evaluations and policy development. Requires current RPSGT certification, BLS, and completion of an accredited polysomnography program.
Required Qualifications
- Successful completion of a polysomnography program associated with a state licensed and/or a nationally accredited educational facility or equivalent experience and documented proficiency at all competencies required of a Polysomnographic Technologist
- Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologist or equivalent
- Maintain current BLS certification
- A minimum of 6 months of clinical experience
