Job Summary
Senior Polymers Application Engineer who serves as the technical operator across our polymers business, collaborating with customers to diagnose performance issues, design experiments, and coordinate R&D to resolve them. Own manufacturing quality and regulatory documentation backbone (technical data sheets, certificates of analysis, specifications, safety data sheets, REACH/CLP inputs), and act as the technical face in customer meetings while bridging commercial demand with laboratory execution. Work closely with the Head of Polymers and R&D teams, identify new applications with the business development team, and maintain strong relationships with customers and partners across long-running development programmes.
Required Qualifications
- Degree in polymer engineering, polymer science, or chemical engineering with a clear polymer specialisation
- 7-12 years of industry experience in polymer applications development
- Hands-on experience across thermoplastic elastomer or engineering polymer systems, with depth in at least one block copolymer or segmented copolymer family (e.g., thermoplastic polyurethanes, copolyester elastomers, or polyether block amides)
- Demonstrated track record of owning a customer programme end to end
- Comfortable as the senior technical voice in a customer meeting
- Strongly organised with documentation and specification management
- Working knowledge of European chemical regulation (REACH, CLP) at senior application engineer level
- Practical hands-on disposition to move programmes and manage costs/resources
- Fluent in English; German or French an advantage
- Willing to travel approximately 30-40% in the first year
