Job Summary
Lead the optimisation of devulcanization processes for tyre and conveyor belt rubber to improve quality, consistency, and processing characteristics. Develop and optimise rubber compounds incorporating devulcanized rubber for applications including conveyor belting, rubber matting, and automotive components by replacing high-value ingredients like natural rubber and SBR. Support production teams in improving mixing efficiency, cure systems, and cycle times while troubleshooting issues such as short molding and viscosity management. Establish a rubber testing laboratory capability to oversee rheometry, tensile testing, and cure analysis, ensuring products meet commercial performance and cost targets. Lead technical engagement with mining companies, conveyor belt manufacturers, and international partners to support commercial negotiations.
Required Qualifications
- Degree in Polymer Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Materials Science
- Extensive experience in rubber compounding and processing
- Strong knowledge of NR / SBR / BR compounds
- Strong knowledge of Sulphur cure systems
- Strong knowledge of Rheology and cure behaviour
- Experience in industrial rubber manufacturing
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with reclaimed or devulcanized rubber
- Experience in conveyor belt or heavy industrial rubber products
- Experience scaling pilot technologies to commercial production
