Polymer Chemist (f/m/d) - Hybrid

Job Summary
Temporary 9-month role located in Putzbrunn, Munich with hybrid work arrangement. Responsible for planning and executing application-focused research to advance high-value polymers for internal partners, designing, synthesizing, and characterizing polymers at lab scale, and establishing relationships between polymerization processes, polymer structure, material properties, and performance. Will establish monomer/solvent purity specifications, validate scalability of polymerization recipes, develop concepts for monomer selection and polymerization processes, and translate lab-scale concepts into scalable, commercially viable polymer synthesis processes in collaboration with external partners and regional teams (EMEA and US). Requires PhD and hands-on polymer synthesis/characterization expertise (NMR, FTIR, Raman, GPC, DSC, TGA). The role emphasizes collaboration, documentation, and communication of results through technical reports and presentations.
Required Qualifications
- PhD in Polymer Chemistry, Materials Science, Organic Chemistry, or related discipline
- Demonstrated expertise in polymer design, synthesis, and characterization (NMR, FTIR, Raman, GPC, DSC, TGA)
- Hands-on experience in polymer synthesis, preferably including step-growth polymerizations and scale-up beyond bench scale
- Deep understanding of polymerization–structure–property relationships
