Job Summary
Experienced journalist sought to cover Oklahoma politics and watchdog accountability reporting for The Oklahoman/USA TODAY NETWORK. The role includes breaking news and enterprise reporting, building sources, analyzing public records, and producing stories across daily and enterprise formats. Responsibilities include adhering to journalistic ethics and the USA Today Style Guide, filing with a content management system, crafting compelling headlines and captions, and promoting work across social media platforms (TikTok, X, Facebook, Instagram, Reddit). The reporter will work with a team, occasionally on weekends and nights, and Spanish language ability is a plus. A strong emphasis on accountability reporting and the ability to break news, develop sources, and contribute to diverse storytelling formats (including short-form video) is desired.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or master’s degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience
- At least five years of reporting or equivalent experience
- A valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and the minimum liability insurance required by state law
