Job Summary
Conduct high-quality teaching, mentoring, and advising for students while engaging in departmental citizenship and professional projects that add value to the academic community. Deliver a sound academic experience that prepares students for professional careers, supported by competitive salary and teaching load. Demonstrate potential for excellence in teaching, scholarship, and mentoring students from diverse backgrounds within the Brigham Young University Political Science Department.
Required Qualifications
- Ph.D. in political science or related field
- Substantial professional experience in politics or a related field
- Required degree must be completed by the start date
- Relocation to and residence in Utah for the duration of employment
- Current temple recommend
- Worthiness to hold a temple recommend
- Commitment to the Mission of Brigham Young University and the Aims of a BYU Education
- Abiding by the university's Honor Code and Dress & Grooming Standards
- Intentionality in building faith in Jesus Christ and testimony of His restored gospel among members of the BYU community
- Commitment to seek and be led by the Holy Ghost in all aspects of university assignments
- Student-centeredness above all other professional pursuits
- Excellence in teaching, scholarship, mentoring, and citizenship

- Experience in national security policy
- Experience in intelligence
- Experience in law
- Experience in international development
- Ph.D. in political science or related field (preferred)
- Evidence of teaching effectiveness
- Samples of scholarly work
