Job Summary

Collaborate with a dedicated enterprise editor on the Washington desk to regularly publish original reporting and break news on the executive branch, political campaigns, and members of Congress. Build and maintain a wide network of relevant contacts locally, nationally, and globally, while writing regular news features and longer-form pieces that bring the context and characters of US politics to a global audience. Work with other reporters across the globe to provide specialist input on enterprise stories covering extremism, malfeasance, and the functioning of Washington. This full-time, hybrid role in Washington, DC, reports to the political enterprise editor and offers a salary of $110,000 - $115,000.

Required Qualifications

  • Experienced reporter in DC
  • strong track record of producing scoops and original breaking news to cover extremism and malfeasance in Washington
  • Track record of breaking original scoops
  • Experience covering politics for a national newsroom
  • Deep knowledge of at least one key government agency/function (for example national security, defense, health care, etc)

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience working on an enterprise desk and writing for a global audience
