Job Summary
Policy Principal to lead TAEBAs engagement with ERCOT from Austin-based, fully remote role. Responsible for monitoring ERCOT activity, drafting and filing ERCOT comments, developing ERCOT-focused policy and advocacy strategies, and maintaining relationships with ERCOT staff, market participants, regulators, and TAEBA members. Requires translating complex energy policy and market rules into actionable recommendations, coordinating with member companies, preparing internal and member-facing updates, and collaborating with United’s communications team to elevate priorities. Travel up to 30% and strong written/oral communication skills are essential.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; Master’s degree is a plus
- Minimum of three years of professional experience in policy analysis/advocacy or market analysis; experience with FERC or competitive wholesale electricity markets strongly preferred
- Experience in the advanced energy industry or clean energy advocacy is a plus
- Independent self-starter; comfortable working remotely; capable of creating projects and managing calendar
- Ability to distill complex economic/technical subjects into easy-to-digest takeaways
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; public speaking
- Willingness to travel up to 30%
- Experience in advancing a policy agenda and/or working with business leaders is a plus
