Job Summary
Policy Counsel/Policy Advocate in the ACLU Foundation of Georgia oversees state, county, and municipal legislative advocacy; tracks bills, drafts and analyzes legislation, develops materials (factsheets, policy briefs, memos, talking points, speeches, testimony), delivers testimony, executes advocacy strategies, and builds relationships with elected officials. The role requires research and writing across policy positions, collaboration with cross-departmental teams, and comfort working in a hybrid schedule with in-office presence in Atlanta on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Strong policy analysis, legal drafting, and communication skills, plus proficiency with MS Office, Teams, SharePoint, Asana, and legislative-tracking tools, are essential.
Required Qualifications
- Advanced degree (J.D., M.P.P.) or equivalent experience in policy analysis, legal advocacy, or legislative work
- 3-5 years of relevant experience, including 1-2 years of experience with legislative drafting, lobbying, or policy development
