Job Summary
Policy Advisor for Pembina’s External Affairs, based in Calgary with a Hybrid work arrangement. Responsibilities include researching and developing public policy positions for Pembina and the broader energy sector; monitoring government agendas; identifying policy issues; developing integrated policy positions; coordinating internal collaboration on policy and advocacy initiatives including funding opportunities; delivering analyses and solutions to internal teams via briefs, executive-level briefings, and speaking points for senior leadership; coordinating with external industry associations for aligned messaging; serving as a trusted internal advisor on policy considerations affecting capital projects, operations, or strategy; ensuring engagements with government are properly recorded in lobby registries; contributing to a diverse and inclusive work environment. Qualifications include a university degree in Economics, Business or Political Science (or related field), 3-7 years in government/economics/policy roles, understanding of government policies, lobbying requirements and compliance, ability to translate complex information into concise policy positions, strong communication skills, multitasking and self-direction, and eligibility to work in Canada; background checks are required. The role reports to the Manager, Government Relations & Community Engagement and is located in Pembina’s Calgary Office.
Required Qualifications
- University degree in Economics, Business or Political Science, or a related program
- 3-7 years progressive experience in government, economics and/or policy roles
- Understanding of government policies and political issues relevant to the energy sector
- Understanding of lobbying requirements and compliance processes
- Ability to translate complex information into concise and effective policy positions
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for internal and external audiences
- Able to multitask effectively, with strong time-management skills, and the ability to accelerate in a very fast-paced, changing environment
- Demonstrated ability to work independently in a self-directed manner
- Advanced interpersonal skills
- The successful candidate must be legally able to work in the country of the position
