Job Summary
Policy Administrator at Homesteaders Life Company responsible for policy administration activities such as processing premium payments, balancing accounts, handling policy changes (cancellations, surrenders, maturities, loans, reinstatements), and interfacing with agents, funeral homes, and policyholders. Includes ensuring regulatory compliance (Texas Department of Banking) and maintaining policy accounting procedures. Requires experience in insurance policy administration or customer service, proficiency with Microsoft Office, knowledge of ACH and accounting concepts, and the ability to review new business applications and preneed contracts for completeness. Hybrid work environment with opportunities in West Des Moines, IA, and multiple U.S. locations.
Required Qualifications
- Equivalent to GED and an associate’s degree or two-year equivalent experience in insurance or accounting is preferred
- 3+ years in the insurance industry in Policy Administration or Customer Service
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Outlook, Word)
- Knowledge of ACH transaction processing and general principles of accounting systems is preferred
- LifePro experience is a plus
- Completion of LOMA courses in Principles and Operations is a plus
