Job Summary

Initiate, process, and maintain case filings, legal documents, and correspondence to support law enforcement activities while providing information and assistance to the public. Prepare criminal cases for court presentation, enter statistical data for NIBRS reporting, and provide fingerprinting services. Process probable cause affidavits, arrest warrants, and permit applications with criminal background checks. Review citations, complaints, and crash reports to verify offense types and jurisdiction, acting as a liaison with local, state, and federal agencies. Retrieve complex information for defendants and assist with Texas Public Information Act requests. Manage microfilm equipment, scanners, and duplicate files while maintaining accurate records and confidentiality. Compose correspondence, distribute reports, and handle incoming mail. Requires a high school diploma, two years of office experience, and a valid driver's license. Must pass a background investigation and polygraph.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two (2) year of general office, communications, or records management experience
  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Working knowledge of computer applications
  • Considerable knowledge of general office procedures
  • Working knowledge or legal language and legal procedures
  • Skill in operation of the listed tools and equipment
  • Ability to communicate effectively on a one-to-one basis with the public
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with employees, other departments, officials, and the public
  • Ability to work under pressure with frequent interruptions
  • Ability to maintain accurate records
  • Ability to type and enter data accurately
  • Ability to adapt to constant change
  • Ability to maintain confidential records and files
  • Must pass a thorough background investigation and complete a polygraph examination
  • Must have a valid driver's license by date of hire
  • Must obtain and maintain a Texas Driver's License within 60 days of hire
  • Must have the ability to obtain a Notary Public License
