Job Summary
Enforce applicable sections of the California Education Code, Penal Code, District Board Policy, and individual school rules while performing school District police duties on-site. Provide one-on-one support for students and parents, monitor at-risk students, and make child abuse referrals when appropriate. Work closely with site administration to identify student needs and participate in meetings regarding attendance and related concerns. Possess knowledge of the socioeconomic and culturally diversified student population to effectively communicate and discern needs.
Required Qualifications
- Must be twenty-one (21) years old by the filing deadline
- Two (2) years prior law enforcement experience is desired
- High school graduation or equivalent
- graduate of the Peace Officers Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) Basic Academy
- Associate Arts Degree or equivalent
- Possession of a valid California Class C Driver's' License
- good driving record
- proof of insurance
- Completion of Peace Officers Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) Basic Academy and Training as identified in California Government Code Section 1031
- eligibility for certification within one-year of appointment, if not already certified
- successful completion of physical agility test
- firearms certification
- report writing
- communication skills test
- P.O.S.T. Field Training Officer Program
- No Felony convictions under California Government Code Section 1029
- Must be a US Citizen
Desired Qualifications
- Two (2) years prior law enforcement experience
