Job Summary
Enforce laws, investigate complaints and incidents, and maintain order on all institutional properties to ensure safety and security. Provide personal safety escorts, handle money transfers, and offer non-emergency medical transportation while controlling crowds and traffic at large group events. Conduct preliminary and follow-up investigations to solve crimes, identify suspects, and document case information. Engage in problem solving, threat mitigation, and conflict resolution for issues involving citizens, groups, and campus entities. Perform personal safety and crime prevention education, and administer emergency aid to the institutional community. Work 30% to 60% part-time hours in a temporary fixed-term role.
Required Qualifications
- Eligible to become Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board Certified
- At least two years' previous law enforcement experience within the past three years
- Valid driver's license
- Independently, legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire and maintain their work authorization without the support or help of UW-Superior throughout employment
Desired Qualifications
- Previous completion of a Wisconsin Accredited Law Enforcement Academy
- Associate degree or higher
- Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN) Training
- Basic Life Support/First Aid Certified (including CPR Training)
- Pursuit driving training
- Experience working within the principles of community-oriented policing in a higher education setting
