Job Summary
Police Officer at Memorial Regional Medical Center provides internal and external safety/police functions, participates in investigations and arrests when warranted, and protects patients, visitors, and staff through patrols and escorts. Responsibilities include responding to calls, enforcing policies (parking, visitation, drug enforcement, tobacco-free), monitoring CCTV, intervening in confrontations, documenting duties via daily logs and incident reports, and understanding emergency procedures and disaster plans. Requires a high school diploma or GED (with some markets requiring an Associate's degree as preferred) and relevant licensing/certifications; strong communication, reporting, and coordination with clinical teams and law enforcement are essential. Shifts include 6-hour blocks (6a-12p, 12p-6p, 6p-12a, 12a-6a) across all shifts; emphasis on safety, security procedures, and equal opportunity employment.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED (required, except Richmond market)
- Associate's degree (preferred)
- Valid driver’s license (required, except Richmond market)
- BLS Basic Life Support – American Heart Association (required within 6 months of hire, except Richmond market)
- Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy Certification (required in Ohio within 6 months of hire)
- Certified completion of an approved police training academy and be a sworn law enforcement officer with police powers in the corresponding facility county (St. Mary's Hospital - Henrico County, Memorial Regional - Hanover County, St. Francis - Chesterfield County, Richmond Community - City of Richmond (required in Richmond))
- 1-3 years of security, law enforcement, or military experience (preferred)
- Non-violent crisis intervention training (required within 6 months of hire, except Richmond market)
- Firearms qualifications; successfully pass bi-annual firearms qualifications
- Demonstrate proficiency in radio communication, report writing, surveillance systems, and access control software
