Job Summary
Senior Narcotics Detective in Canon City Police Department’s Investigation Unit; acts as the senior investigator for narcotics enforcement, leading narcotics investigations and potentially cases in General Crimes or Narcotics focus, performing surveillance, collecting evidence, preparing subpoenas and warrants, testifying in court, coordinating with regional task forces and federal agencies, developing confidential informants, and ensuring timely investigative reports and case files. This role requires extensive experience in criminal investigations, knowledge of narcotics methods, and the ability to mentor other detectives; the position offers a strong wage range based on experience and education, plus benefits and career-development opportunities.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Certified Colorado Police Officer
- Valid unrestricted Colorado Driver’s License
- 36 months with CCPD including 24 months at the rank of Officer II or higher, or 24 months with CCPD including 12 months at the rank of Officer II or higher and 36 months with another Law Enforcement Agency as a sworn officer in an investigation’s capacity, or 48 months with another Law Enforcement Agency, with at least 12 months in an investigation’s capacity.
