Job Summary
Virginia DCJS-certified Police Officer sought to patrol city streets, respond to calls for law enforcement assistance, investigate traffic accidents, conduct investigations, collect and process evidence, testify in court, and enforce traffic and local ordinances. Responsibilities include patrolling in marked/unmarked vehicles or other means, detaining offenders, securing scenes, interviewing witnesses, assisting prosecutors, and engaging with the community. Requires current DCJS certification, 3 years’ law enforcement experience, background checks, polygraph, and fitness-related evaluations.
Required Qualifications
- Current Virginia DCJS Certified officer
- 3 years’ experience in law enforcement
- No more than two moving violations within previous 24 months
- No current or previous revocations or suspension of license within previous 60 months due to a moving violation
- Undergo a background investigation including fingerprint-based criminal history records inquiries to both the CCRE and FBI
- Undergo a physical examination, subsequent to a conditional offer of employment
- Polygraph Examination
- Must complete lawfit course
