Job Summary
Patrol assigned areas by foot or vehicle, respond to emergency and non-emergency calls, and prevent crime by enforcing state and local laws. Investigate incidents, make arrests, and secure crime scenes while directing traffic and assisting during accidents. Provide first aid when necessary, maintain positive community relationships, and report suspicious activity or public hazards. Assist with crowd control and public events. Apply online by August 28, 2026, and pass the written examination scheduled for September 3, 2026, at the Pharr ONE Complex.
Required Qualifications
- U.S. citizen by birth or naturalization
- At least 18 years of age
- High School Diploma or a GED with at least 12 college credit hours and a minimum 2.0 GPA
- Valid Texas Driver License
- Eligible for licensing by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE)
- Proficient in reading and writing English
- Meet all required physical agility standards
- No felony convictions
- No convictions for family violence offenses
- No Class A or Class B misdemeanor convictions within the past 10 years
- Meet all legal requirements for future TCOLE licensing
- Must pass a thorough criminal background check
