Job Summary
Police Officer position requiring on-call availability 24 hours for emergencies, varied shifts including nights and weekends, and duties encompassing enforcement of laws, traffic control, crime prevention, investigations, arrests, and public-safety support. Must handle sensitive information, operate police equipment, and coordinate with prosecutors and court staff. Must demonstrate skills in interviewing, rapid decision-making under stress, maintaining confidentiality, and effective communication. Required Qualifications
- A High School diploma or GED equivalent
- Graduate of the Montana Law Enforcement Academy (MLEA) for Police Officer 2 and Police Officer 3 positions or Police Officer 1 position (entry level)
- Valid Montana Driver's License or ability to obtain within 60 days of moving to Montana
- Knowledge of Montana Code Annotated and Hardin Municipal Code; law enforcement procedures; firearms operation; report writing; investigation techniques
