Job Summary

Conduct daily patrols through neighborhoods and businesses, responding to calls for service and emergencies while maintaining visible community presence. Execute thorough investigations, gather and document evidence, and adhere to court testimony standards. Interpret and apply federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, and departmental policies accurately during rapidly evolving situations. Operate emergency vehicles, use firearms and defensive tactics, and employ de-escalation strategies to resolve conflicts. Maintain physical endurance, agility, and firearms qualifications while building cooperative relationships with community members, peers, and other agencies. Collaborate with team members during briefings and uphold departmental values of integrity and professionalism.

Required Qualifications

  • Solid foundation in federal, state, and local criminal and traffic laws, as well as TABC regulations
  • Proficiency in law enforcement practices, patrol operations, and investigative techniques
  • Adeptness at evidence collection, documentation, and adhering to court testimony standards
  • Ability to interpret and apply laws impartially
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Ability to make sound decisions in rapidly evolving situations
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
  • Physical endurance

  • Meeting established firearms qualifications
  • Knowledge of departmental policies, rules, and reporting procedures
  • Safe use, operation, and maintenance of vehicles, firearms, and specialized equipment

  • Ability to gather, assemble, analyze, and evaluate facts and evidence while drawing logical conclusions
