Job Summary
GENERAL PURPOSE: Under general supervision, serves and patrols the Town on an assigned shift in the enforcement of local, county, state and federal laws. PRIMARY DUTIES include patrolling assigned areas, responding to calls (domestic disputes, intoxication, child molestations, sexual assaults, burglaries, thefts, deceased persons, school issues, neighborhood disputes), traffic enforcement, accident investigations, writing reports, handling evidence, testifying in court, investigations, public relations, and performing related duties as required. Academy starts January 12, 2026; testing October 25, 2025. Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent and POST certification; valid AZ driver’s license; knowledge of police procedures and laws; strong communication and organizational skills.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent and completion of the Police Academy or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- POST certification.
- Possession of a valid State of Arizona driver’s license.
- Knowledge of Police Department general orders, policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of town, county, state and federal laws, regulations and ordinances.
- Knowledge of criminal justice and court systems, procedures and protocols.
- Knowledge of law enforcement principles, practices and procedures.
- Knowledge of investigative and interrogative procedures and protocols.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with Town staff, council, external organizations and the public.
- Ability to work effectively with other law enforcement agencies and organizations.
- Ability to apply law enforcement principles and procedures to solve cases.
- Ability to administer laws and regulations, make decisions, maintain composure, and work under stress.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to assess and prioritize multiple tasks, projects and demands.
- Ability to operate a personal computer and use business software.
- Ability to effectively use firearms and operate law enforcement vehicles.
