Job Summary
This position requires a Police Officer dedicated to enforcing the policies of UMass Memorial Health and the laws of Massachusetts. Responsibilities include conducting foot and vehicle patrols, traffic duties, investigations, promoting crime prevention, and community service. The officer must make lawful arrests, ensure safe transport of prisoners, and provide court testimony when required. Required qualifications include a high school education, police academy completion, law enforcement certification, and CPR/First Aid certification within initial 30 days of employment. Good communication skills and the ability to maintain composure under pressure are essential.
Required Qualifications
- Equivalent to high school education plus additional specialized courses
- Requires full-time police academy training
- Certification as a law enforcement officer by the Massachusetts Peace Officer Standards and Training Commission (POST)
- First Responder certification
- Driver’s License
- OCAT and in-service classes
- Class A license to carry firearms in Massachusetts
- CPR/First Aid certification within 30 days of hire
Desired Qualifications
- Three (3) years of prior law enforcement experience preferred
- POST certified, academy trained officers
Additional Requirements
- Must be able to work under sometimes-stressful conditions and maintain a calm composure
