Job Summary
Manage a unit of the Emory Police Department by supervising sergeants and personnel responsible for patrol, investigations, and crime prevention. Coordinate crime prevention activities, including developing educational programs and operating alarm systems, while overseeing equipment purchases, inventory, and maintenance of property and vehicles. Supervise investigations, manage records systems and case files, and plan special events. Represent the department to other agencies and community groups, acting as Police Captain when needed. Provide ongoing feedback to employees, facilitate in-service training, and handle hiring and supervision. Perform related responsibilities as required.
Required Qualifications
- six years of law enforcement experience with arrest authority
- four years in a position at or above Police Sergeant or the equivalent
- Current certification by Georgia P.O.S.T. as a peace officer, or ability to obtain certification within six months of employment
- Able to meet background requirements, including a criminal history check
- Must have or be able to obtain a valid Georgia driver's license within 30 days from employment date
- An insurable driving record
- Position tasks are required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location
