Job Summary
Monitor police radios, phones, computers, LEADS, and video surveillance cameras to answer public calls regarding emergency and non-emergency situations. Dispatch all service personnel and equipment by radio or phone as required, while maintaining records, forms, and other documents. Assist with non-emergency calls by providing caller information or referrals, and help train new dispatchers. Maintain dispatch center, radio, and telephone equipment as needed, and monitor the camera system, fire panel, and panic/door alarms. Effectively assist other law enforcement agency calls. Requires LEADS certification within 60 days of hire, a valid Ohio driver's license, and strong multitasking skills.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- LEADS certification or ability to obtain LEADS operator certification within 60 days of hire and maintain certification throughout employment
- Valid Ohio driver's license
- 18 years of age or older
- Basic understanding of computers, CAD (computer aided dispatch) system, and phone networks
- Ability to effectively communicate both written and verbal
- Ability to multitask
Desired Qualifications
- One year of law enforcement (dispatching) or security dispatching experience
- Experience with LEADS, TAC RMS, and OHLEG
