Job Summary
Police Attorney on the City of High Point Police Department Executive Team providing legal guidance in criminal, municipal, and personnel law; duties include advising on investigative procedures, searches, eavesdropping, and evidence; reviewing policies and disciplinary actions; representing the Chief of Police in administrative actions and hearings; developing training materials on case law and legislation; coordinating with state training academies; and ensuring compliance with laws, ordinances, and accreditation standards. Requires Juris Doctorate, NC Bar membership, valid NC driver’s license, ability to pass polygraph and background checks, and willingness to undergo screenings and exams. Location: High Point, NC.
Required Qualifications
- Must have a Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school
- Must be a membership in the State Bar of North Carolina
- Must currently possess a valid driver's license issued by N.C
- Must be able to work under the general supervision and on a fixed work schedule
- Successful completion of a polygraph and background investigation is required
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
Desired Qualifications
- Five years of progressively responsible experience in municipal or government law
- General Instructor certification
- Equivalent combination of skills and experience sufficient to perform essential duties
- Experience in criminal law and law enforcement context (preferred)
