Job Summary
Monitor laboratory testing for adherence to regulatory requirements for Point of Care or Physician Office Laboratory clients, correcting variances and responding to regulatory agencies. Prepare written documentation, maintain department records, and compile reports including CAP, Joint Commission, or COLA data. Provide training and feedback to personnel on testing procedures, ensure competencies are completed, and coordinate student clinical rotations. Consult with medical staff and healthcare providers on quality or POC/POL issues, develop priorities for special projects, and evaluate new test methods. Communicate critical values to the healthcare team, recognize customer satisfaction issues, and respond or escalate appropriately. Comply with Prisma Health policies and governmental standards while maintaining a safe working environment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Chemical/Physical/Biological/Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology from an accredited institution
- Two (2) years clinical laboratory experience as a medical technologist/medical laboratory scientist
- Certification must be current for one of the following: MLS(ASCP), MT(ASCP), Categorical (ASCP), MT(AMT), or MT (CSMLS)
- State License as a Medical Laboratory Technician or Technologist (Required for team members working in Tennessee)
- Ability to meet requirements for mandatory and non-mandatory continuing education and access training needs and participate in Continuing Education (CE) programs annually
